The Windows Media Player Backup4all Plugin is a free, dedicated add-on designed for the Backup4all backup utility. It simplifies data protection by allowing you to easily back up your media player configuration, logs, and registry entries without manually searching for hidden files. What the Plugin Backs Up
When you run a backup job with this plugin enabled, it targets specific application data required to preserve your media player environment:
Media Player Files: Grabs active application configurations and history data located in the %APPDATA%\MICROSOFT\MEDIA PLAYER directory.
Application Icons: Backs up core visual assets stored within %PROGRAMFILES%\WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER\ICONS.
Registry Entries: Saves underlying Windows registry keys to retain your custom player settings, tweaks, and configurations.
(Note: The plugin targets application-specific configurations and system files rather than your raw music or movie files. To back up actual multimedia collections, you should use Backup4all’s standard file selection or its dedicated Video Files Plugin). How to Install and Use the Plugin
Setting up the plugin takes only a few steps through the main application interface:
Open the Plugin Manager: Launch your software and navigate to File →right arrow Tools →right arrow Plugins.
Download the Plugin: Click Refresh plugin list, select the Windows Media Player plugin, and press Install. Create a Backup Job: Choose File →right arrow New Backup (or press Ctrl+N).
Select the Source: Under the “Selection of files and folders” drop-down menu, choose the newly installed media player plugin.
Execute: Select your preferred backup type (such as Full or Smart) and run the job. Restoring Your Data
