How to Share Your AI-Powered Google Search Responses Have you ever generated the perfect, comprehensive AI Overview or used Google’s advanced AI Mode and wished you could instantly share the exact conversational thread with a friend or colleague? Instead of taking multiple screenshots, you can directly create and send a custom web link that directs others right to your generative AI conversation.
This guide covers everything you need to know to generate, manage, and share your AI-powered search responses across desktop, Android, and iOS devices. What Happens When You Share an AI Response?
When you use the share function, the recipient’s experience varies slightly depending on which type of AI response you are sharing:
AI Overviews: Clicking your shared link will bring the recipient to AI Mode, allowing them to continue asking follow-up questions about the topic.
AI Mode: If your conversation has multiple questions and answers, all the questions and answers in that specific conversation thread will be shared. Any follow-up questions the recipient asks or that you ask after sharing will not be included in the link.
Specific Questions: If you share a response to a specific question within AI Mode, the recipient lands directly on that question and can scroll to see your other Q&As from that same thread. Prerequisites
Before you start sharing, there are a few important account settings to enable. Sharing AI responses requires you to have Web & App Activity (Search History) enabled, along with personalized recommendations. If these are turned off, the share button will not be functional. Depending on the device you are using, follow these steps to share your AI Overview or AI Mode conversations: On Desktop
Go to Google Search and bring up your AI Overview or open AI Mode. At the bottom of the AI response, click Share. Choose your preferred method:
Social Platforms: Click the social media or messaging icon to automatically route there and follow the on-screen instructions.
Copy Link: Click the Copy icon to grab the URL, then paste it into any email, chat, or forum. On Android Open the Google app and tap into AI Mode.
Scroll to the bottom of the AI-generated response and tap Share.
Tap the social/messaging platform of your choice, or select Copy Link to paste it manually. On iPhone & iPad
Go to Google Search (for AI Overviews) or tap AI Mode on your home screen. At the bottom of the AI response, tap Share.
Choose to share directly to an available social platform by tapping the icon, or select Copy to copy the web link. Managing and Resharing Public Links
If you need to retrieve a shared link you created in the past or want to delete it, you can easily manage your public links from your AI history:
Open AI Mode and tap or click on AI Mode History (located near the top of the browser on mobile, or on the left-hand side on desktop). Tap/click on Manage public links.
Locate the specific conversation thread. You can click Copy to reshare the link, or click Delete to revoke public access.
